City of Worcester Task Force on Food Security

What?

A centralized place for coordinating gaps and access in programs related to food security in the City of Worcester. A space for direct advocacy and collaboration with the City of Worcester to identify resources to address these gaps.

When?

Meets virtually every 2 weeks at 9 AM. Email admin@centerfoodequity.com for calendar invite and notes.

Who?

Regular attendees include food pantry coordinators, Worcester Public Schools, city and state officials, community based organizations working on food access programs, funders, and community members. You should attend if you’re interested in tackling system changes and working collaboratively in innovative ways to eradicate food insecurity.

Worcester Food Policy Council

What?

Worcester Food Policy Council is working to create a more equitable and just food system for all. It focuses on closing gaps in the food system, improving access to healthy food, and eliminating the root causes of food insecurity by advocating for local, state, and federal policy solutions. Examples include the Inclusionary Zoning Ordinance, equitable food procurement policies, a municipal chicken ordinance, and the Community Food Assessment.

When?

WFPC meets virtually on the third Thursday of each month at 10:30 AM. Email admin@centerfoodequity.com for a calendar invite and notes.

Who?

Regular attendees include a diverse group of stakeholders from agriculture, education, healthcare, government, nonprofit organizations, and community members. You should attend these meetings to learn more and to use your voice to advocate for solving the problem of food insecurity.

Central Mass SNAP Coalition

What?

A cohort of front line providers and community partners who meet with the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) to share best practices on meeting the needs of SMAP participants. We invite special state and federal partners to update us on the latest news affecting SNAP. We also provide updates on new changes or policies. Lastly, this is an opportunity for individuals to share with the DTA the issues that they are seeing on the ground and ask for changes.

When?

Meets virtually on the first Thursday of every other month from 10-11:30. Email admin@centerfoodequity.com for calendar invite and notes.
